Dan mask of fine workmanship and discreet patina, characterized by the circular eyes, in all likelihood originally rimmed with now-lost metal, typical of Gunyege and Zapkai Ga racing masks. Masks such as this were considered very important in Africa in the past, as the wearer was responsible for controlling fires and preventing fires within the village, where dwellings were on average built of wood and with thatched roofs.
