Democratic Republic of Congo, Hemba. Janiform magic figure. Wood with dark patina.
This kind of sculpture is quite rare as one of these Janiform figures was carved every twenty-five or so ancestors.
At the top there is a hollow in which propitiatory and apotropaic substances were inserted.
