Roughly carved without any concession to decoration and without any ornamentation, but with a magnificent patina given by wear and time, small in size to be easily transported during hunting trips in the forest, this splendid oliphant is as representative of the primitivism of black Africa as it gets.
Given the chance to travel through time, one could in fact find it in use and hear its sound in the forests of Congo two or three thousand years ago. Identical.
