Auction 414 | AFRICA, OCEANIA & AMERICAS - GIOIELLI DAL MONDO E ARTE AFRICANA Online
Lot 259
Beautiful Dogon barn door lock surmounted by a beautifully stylized rooster (enye ana).
Not particularly common, but in demand in collectors' circles, barn door locks with bird figures were actually produced over time by the Dogon in different variations (rooster, hen, duck) as is evident by browsing through the excellent volume "Serrures du Pays Dogon" by Alain Bilot, Michel Bohbot, Genevieve Calame-Griaule and Francine NDiaye for Adam Biro Editions, 2003.
With nice patina and signs of use.
With base.
Measures: 27.0 x 29.0 x 3.0 cm
Starting price: € 100,00
Estimate: € 400,00 - 600,00
