Pinocchio was an in-depth social and political television programme that was broadcast on Rai 1 in prime time from 1997 to 1998, and later (from 1998 to 2000) on Rai 2 in late evening (from 22:30 to midnight) due to low ratings on the first channel. The programme was presented by Gad Lerner, who was later called to direct Tg1, only to resign a few months later.
Giorgio Carpinteri created the programme's fixed sets with the faces of famous personalities from the world of politics, culture and business who were invited to appear on the show.
