It is difficult to establish an exact area of origin for this splendid and ancient jewel that was most probably worn on the forehead or head secured to the two central holes by ligatures as an insignia of rank.
Expertly crafted from moulded horn, pierced and finely engraved with floral motifs and with a remarkable patina given by time and wear, this particular and rare piece of primitive art seems to have come out of the mists of time from some area of the Himalayan region.
