Mumuye black patina wooden sculpture depicting perhaps a female figure. These sculptures, associated with various functions in the Mumuye society, are mainly identifiable by the conformation of the auricles. If large and characterized by a central hole, they can be traced back to female figures. Provenance: Parisian collection of the painter Arturo Carmassi (Lucca 1925 - Empoli 2015). This piece was purchased directly by Jacques Kerchache (1942 - 2001) around the mid-1980s.
