A large painting depicting an episod from the well-known Book Of Kings (Shahnameh). Here we are at the court of Kay Khosrow who has just sent the declaration of war to Afrasiab, king of Turan and bitter enemy of Iran. Admist the other characters: Tus, Zal, Gudarz and Rustam. This painting belongs to a gender called Coffee House Painting which draws inspiration form the Persian Epic.and was very popular during the Qajar period. Signed lower right.
