Large censer. China, Qing Dynasty, 19th-20th cent.
A large ovoid body rests on three legs that emerge from the jaws of three lion-like heads. The body is completely decorated with elaborate designs distributed on horizontal bands, even the monumental handles are entirely covered with enamels that compose archaic designs on a blue background. The lid, culminating in a grip with the features of a Buddhist lion, has rectangular gilded bronze reserves perforated with bat motifs and auspicious symbols.
