imposing carved wooden figure depicting a standing woman. The pombilele are suggestive male or female representations placed within the rituals of the Poro society to which the Senufo males belong and represent ancestral figures of the community.
Provenance: Parisian collection of the painter Arturo Carmassi (Lucca, 1925- Empoli, 2015).
