The miniature mask Bassa is kept, as Aldo Tagliaferri wrote in 1997 on the essay published for Lorenzelli Arte on the occasion of the exhibition on miniature masks from Western Africa, "as if it were a small portable personal altar, on which sacrifices are made to propitiate his powers and feed the magic energy, powerful but also volatile."
So much aesthetic magic as well as animistic enclosed in a small piece of wood.
