Lot 106
One of the pivotal authors of the world comics scene, in an entirely new story, with his unmistakable style that looks like a cross between Altan, Tardi and Prichard. Although he trained as an advertising graphic designer, in 1985 David B. began working as a scriptwriter and illustrator for various magazines (Okapi, À suivre, Tintin Reporter, Chic).
In 1990 he took an increasingly central role in the comics scene, thanks to the founding of the publishing house L'Association together with Jean-Christophe Menu, Lewis Trondheim, Matt Konture, Patrice Killoffer Stanislas and Mokeït. Most of his works from the 1990s were published in the magazine Lapin, and then collected in the volumes Le Cheval blême and Les Incidents de la nuit. It is presumed that these plates are part of this strardinary period of research and experimentation. The artist rose to worldwide success following the publication between 1996 and 2003 of the autobiographical work Il grande male (published in Italy by Coconino), which describes his own childhood in relation to the illness of his brother, who was often struck by severe epileptic seizures.
