Lot 284
One of the most important writers on the international comics scene, in a completely new story with his unmistakable style, a cross between Altan, Tardi and Prichard. Although he trained as a graphic designer for advertising, David B. began working as a scriptwriter and cartoonist for several magazines (Okapi, À suivre, Tintin Reporter, Chic) in 1985.
In 1990 he played an increasingly central role on the comic strip scene, thanks in part to the creation of L'Association with Jean-Christophe Menu, Lewis Trondheim, Matt Konture, Patrice Killoffer Stanislas and Mokeït. Most of his work from the 1990s was published in the magazine Lapin and then collected in the volumes Le Cheval blême and Les Incidents de la nuit. It is believed that these eight plates are part of this extraordinary period of research and experimentation. An artist who achieved international success with the publication between 1996 and 2003 of the autobiographical work Il grande male (published in Italy by Coconino), which describes his own childhood in relation to the illness of his brother, who often suffered from severe epileptic seizures.
