A monumental brown patina wooden mask. Masks of this type are carved by the blacksmiths of the village, the only ones authorized to do it, and embody the spirit of Dwo (one of the three sons of the creator god Wuro).
Provenance: Parisian collection of the painter Arturo Carmassi (Lucca, 1925- Empoli, 2015). This piece was inherited from the French humanist and collector Renée Druart (Grasse 1888-1961) whose daughter Carmassi had married.
