233 FINE CHINESE ISLAMIC & ORIENTAL ART
Lot 506
Outside of a palace, a nobleman is depicted sitting on a floral carpet with a container of pan leaves, flanked by two servants. One of the servants is holding a fly-whisk. The nobleman is portrayed in the context of an audience with a king, who faints and loses the crown. A servant takes care of the monarch. The palatial setting, the look on the faces of the protagonists and the frame are all peculiar elements of the Kangra school.
