This is how Joshua Williamson introduced his work on Rogues in the series launch:
" Rogues has nothing to do with anything I've done at DC. It's much more like my independent work. It's a crime comic full of super-science, dark humour, lost civilisations and crazy action moments, but it's all told well, with the dark underbelly and morality of classic noir stories. Rogues takes everything we love about these classic characters and throws it violently into a noir story that makes it ideal for the DC Black Label line.

And Leomacs was the right illustrator, particularly for his work on the Basketful of Head miniseries, which had captivated the writer of Batman, Robin and Infinite Frontiers, among many others.
