Auction 437 | ORIENTAL ART - ARTE ORIENTALE DA COLLEZIONI PRIVATE ITALIANE Online
Lot 172
The standing figure of Uma is modelled wearing a striped sampot supported by a belt around her hips. A large textile panel is draped over the belt that descends softly and ends slightly flared at the bottom in the characteristic 'fishtail' shape. The face is pervaded by a celestial calmness, the lips hint at a slight smile, the arched eyebrows, the broad nose, the earlobes are elongated. She wears a tiara sculpted with floral motifs in front of a cone-shaped chignon. The sculpture is particularly refined and accurate, especially in the rendering of the robes and the sophisticated hairstyle.
