In the 19th century, during certain initiation rites, the Zulus of South Africa used to pierce their earlobes and then elongate them by wearing earrings such as these, since a woman with pierced and elongated earlobes was more attractive to the aesthetic standards of the time.
Beautiful with their colourful geometric decorations and in an excellent state of preservation.
