Auction 389 | AFRICA, OCEANIA & AMERICA - GIOIELLI DAL MONDO Online
Lot 180
A beautiful antique silver and turquoise brooch representative of the great skill achieved by the Navajo 'siversmiths'. Fascinating for the elegance that comes from the simplicity of its archaic design, this iconic jewel of Native American culture was cold forged by hammering and not by casting, as we can deduce by observing the veins in the metal on the back. Also on the reverse side we find the letters CW engraved with a punch, probably the initials of the artist who made this fine piece of jewellery.
