Auction 388 | MODERN & CONTEMPORARY ART Traditional
Lot 1
Signature lower left. Expertise by Paolo Baldacci, Milan. Provenance: La Bussola Gallery, Turin; Boggio Collection; Turin; Private Collection.
"At the back of the canvas there is an inscription in capital letters with the title Plastic Values of a Ballerina and the date 1928, of which it is however impossible to evaluate the authenticity since it is a non-cursive writing. The authenticity of the painting - a very small sketch - is rather evident from the stylistic comparison with some similar subjects dating back to the same year. Among these, the painting Plastic values of a nude should be considered in particular. The stylization of the anatomical decompositions of the nude is very similar in the two paintings, and in particular in the curious attack between the neck and the breasts of the female figure.
The painting comes from the Galleria La Bussola in Turin, where it was purchased by the painter P. Boggio around 1960"
