Mario Albano Biography
MARIO ALBANO (Turin, 1896 -1968) Self-taught painter, he dedicated himself to the production of twilight and melancholy landscapes, genre painting, portraits and figures, for which he was particularly gifted and which he created with lively emotional participation. His artistic language underwent an important evolution: from the broad and full-bodied brushstroke to the tonal fusions of full maturity. Mario Albano was nicknamed the "Nocturne" due to the numerous subjects evocative of the night, but not only that, as his paintings also express intimate sensations linked to dusk, to clear and ancient twilights... Mario Albano, better than anyone else, he was able to describe the parallel life of the evening world, where time does not exist. He painted the peace of those places, the sweetness of the life that dwells there, he gave voice to the souls of sensitive people, who like him wander in the half-light of the evening in defense of their dreams. Albano's true artistic talent is precisely that of knowing how to identify the point of contact between our world and the other, the world of dreams and, despite experiencing the pain of not being able to access it, to restore with difficulty that little bit of wonder that has been managed to grasp. .
