Agostino Arrivabene Biography
Agostino Arrivabene is an Italian artist born in 1967 who graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. After completing his studies, the artist traveled to the major Italian and international cities to deepen his cultural knowledge by directly viewing great masterpieces of the past, which influenced his artistic development. Arrivabene's artistic path was continuous and focused on the rediscovery of artistic techniques and the affirmation of ancient art as a language still capable of producing new and significant iconographic symbols. His language has slowly blended with contemporary trends, creating synergies of undisputed emotional strength. His drawings and graphic works become a means to explore the essential dimension of monochrome, which in recent years is expressed with more luxurious techniques. The artist prefers the technique of oil painting with a sumptuous and material touch which has progressively characterized the stratification of his work. His works are characterized by an undisputed technical ability and the mysterious aura that surrounds them. Arrivabene draws inspiration from the spiritual disciplines of the past and from alchemy to investigate hidden existential metaphors. In 1992 Arrivabene took part in the XXXII Suzzara Prize, where he was awarded by the President of the Republic, and also participated in the same event in 1993. His first personal exhibition, "Explorations", was presented at the Crema Museum in 1994, followed by "Memoria and desire" in 1994 and "The secret art of Agostino Arrivabene" in 1998 in Reggio Emilia. Recent exhibitions include "Mirabilia Naturae" (2005) in Milan and "The Dying Sun in the Blue Room" (2007) in Andria. The 1990s marked the beginning of a period of intense activity for Arrivabene, with numerous group exhibitions, such as the Cairo Prize at the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan in 2004, "Silent Nature" in the Rob Smeets Gallery in Milan in 2004, and "Visionaries, Primitives, Eccentrics" in the Palazzo Loffredo museum in Potenza in 2005.
