Ermanno Besozzi Biography
He attended the school for mechanical designers in Gallarate, then studied at the G. Rinaldi studio (student of Cesare Tallone, elderly painter of the 19th century and teacher of the Brera Academy). In 1937 he began his activity as a figurative painter in Africa. Since 1949 he was linked to the Historical and Artistic Society "Cesare da Sesto" also as a tireless promoter of national and international exhibitions and competitions. In Fedeli's studio, in 1952 in France, he learned many techniques, including "fresco tearing". After these experiences he became a skilled restorer. In 1961-62 he painted brambles and branches: these “penetrating images of an intense vegetal reality”. In 1964-65 he painted the series of "travel memories" and the series of "stories". In 1966, after touring museums throughout Italy and Europe, having looked at Max Ernst and met ELT Mesens, the period of the doves and the first collages began. The closeness and friendship with Lucio Fontana began the "object paintings" period, which lasted until the end of the 70s. Interpreting the "cut" and "spatialism" of the great master, he interpreted them in "lace rosettes", which evoke, through their typical shape, architecture of the past. By simply changing the usual destination of a common object (the paper lace placed under the cakes, the ping-pong ball, the chalk egg) he was able to ennoble a humble thing, just as the "Dadaists" and the operators of "pop art", placing it in a context of broader meaning and higher spiritual value. In 1969, with Enrico Baj linked to him by a deep friendship, he participated in the "urban camp" event organized in Como on the main square in front of the cathedral. In 1983 he was elected "excellent painter of patasystems" by the College of Pataphysics and awarded the order of the Great Giduglia.
