Bernardino Bono Biography
The painter from Brescia, whose birth is presumed at the beginning of the 18th century.
The painter would have been a pupil of the Bolognese Giacomo Antonio Boni. In 1733, Bono worked as a figure artist in the oratory of Carità in Brescia, where he had already painted two ovals in 1729, depicting the Assumption and the Immaculate Conception, works in a classical style.
For the church of Carità, where the painter worked for many years, there are recently discovered documents that allow us to date the various interventions: after the ovals of 1729 and the lunettes of 1730-1733, there followed the paintings depicting the Nativity, the Marriage of the Virgin , Prophets and Sibyls, which form the external decoration of the "Holy House of Loreto" in 1737. Subsequently, in 1742, the painter decorated the sacristy, which was subsequently altered. The relationships between the painter and the church of Carità were attested until 1756.
The painter died, according to some sources, in 1774. Few works by his hand are known, which reveal a certain native quality of an easy and flowing brush, as well as a solid compositional fluency.
