Alessandro Butera Biography
Alessandro Butera was born in Palermo on 16 June 1971 and has loved the world of art since he was a child. In 1993 he decided to take advantage of an opportunity for professional collaboration from an art gallery. Contrary to what he imagined, the work turned out to be anything but static. In fact, and for this purpose he immediately went to Sardinia with the task of contacting their customers to offer them works of Italian art from the mostly figurative market, informal at most. He then went to Calabria, Puglia and then again to Lazio. And so it was that without fully understanding, at least at the beginning, he found himself touring Italy for years in the company of colleagues and with a photographic catalog to show to collectors with the aim of proposing: now a Salvatore Fiume or a Renato Guttuso or a work by Giuseppe Migneco etc. The commitment of those years was maximum, he had to study in depth: biographies, pictorial movements and techniques, both artistic and sales. What was immediately evident was that the greatest teaching would be offered by the road and the countless people met. As time passed, the need to grow professionally arose, so he moved to a larger company and then to another, even larger one. A combination of events, both planned and fortuitous, led him shortly thereafter to collaborate with a large international art and culture company. This new condition allowed him to achieve his goal and therefore to delve into the different facets of the art world and market in a structured way. Realizing that he was interested in delving deeper into the creative aspect, but that he could not allow himself to neglect the commercial aspect, he tried to fulfill his commercial tasks in order to achieve the goal he had set for himself. The sales were many and also of increasing quality. What he discovered with experience, in those years, is that the best communicative logic must be completely based on the emotional presentation of the work, the artist and the pictorial movement of reference and its economic value. While all this was happening, little by little his interest shifted more and more, as already mentioned, to the artistic and creation side. He began to paint, believing that this new activity satisfied that need. Despite this, he continued to sell art for a while, opening his own business as a dealer in 2013, offering works by signature Italian artists to a clientele he had acquired over many years. After having been a brilliant and successful dealer for over 2 decades he realized that he needed a change, it was the internet that offered him this possibility, in fact he understood that the web would be the ideal dissemination tool, suitable for the new condition of an artist.
