Fabio Calvetti Biography
Fabio Calvetti (1956 - ) was born in 1956 in Certaldo, a town in the province of Florence where he lives. He graduated from the Art School and subsequently from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in the School of Painting. His activity in Italy and abroad is intense with exhibitions in the United States, Germany, Spain, Belgium and above all in Japan. In 1995 he held a painting internship at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Le Port on Réunion Island. He has taken part in countless artistic events and international fairs. The greatest exponent of the New Italian Figuration. Calvetti's training took place under the ambivalent and somewhat ambiguous sign of the experimentation of the Seventies. Between a figuration that did not want to be conventional, the pop impulses and visual poetry, Calvetti's page was definitively corroborated by the teachings of an artist of character and race such as Fernando Farulli. A gradual maturation of the sign led the author to make the composition more essential and efficient. his exhibition path was divided between Italy, Germany, Spain and the United States, focusing above all on France and Japan: his solo exhibitions were held at the City Art Museum of Kwangju in Korea, at the Galerie Art Comparason in Paris, at the Shiraishi Gallery in Tokyo, at the Hebecker Gallery in Weimar, at the Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne in Brest, at the Shinjuku Park Tower in Tokyo, at the Galerie Tatiana Tournemine in Paris, at the Galerie Australe in Noumea in New Caledonia, at the Daimaru Gallery in Osaka. Recently the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Arezzo dedicated an anthology to him; he then exhibited at the Artesanterasmo Gallery in Milan, at Palazzo Venezia in Rome, at the Marciana Library in Venice and in the Cloister of Sant'Agostino in Pietrasanta (Lu).
