Francesco Casorati Biography
Francesco Casorati held his first solo show at the Galleria del Sole in Milan in 1954. He exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1956 and then in 1962; he participated in the “Francia Italia” exhibition in 1957, at the Roman Quadrennial in 1959 and 1966. The work of the following decades is manifested in a long series of personal exhibitions in national and international galleries. His anthological exhibitions were set up at Palazzo Robellini in Acqui Terme in 1982, at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara in 1985, at the Baptistery of S Pietro in Asti in 1991, at the Bolaffi room in Turin organized by the Piedmont Region in 2000, in the Palazzo dei Sette in Orvieto in 2003, at the Mombercelli Civic Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004, at Casa Felicita in Cavatore in 2010, and, together with his mother Daphne Maugham, at Villa Vallero in Rivarolo in 2011. Alongside painting, fundamental is the Casorati's graphic, chalcographic and lithographic activity, documented by Fossati in the text published by Gian Ferrari in 1967, by Carluccio in the general catalogue, published by Salamon in 1973, and, finally, in relation to the engraving production of the decade 1952-1963, by Gastaldi in the one published in 2015 by the Prints Cabinet of Alessandria, on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to him at Palazzo Cuttica.
