Paolo Cassara Biography

Paolo Cassarà was born on 26 June 1968 in Monreale, in the province of Palermo. Since 1987 he has lived and worked in Milan, where he developed his artistic activity. He has exhibited his works in personal exhibitions in Turin, Milan and Boston. One of the strengths of Cassarà's art is the use of the polychrome terracotta technique, considered obsolete until recently. His work focuses on the representation of the world of youth in an innovative way, using sculpture as a direct means of communication with everyday reality.
Cassarà's works are often characterized by a strong irony and subtle melancholy, which reflect the search for a personal identity within a system dominated by conformism and ephemeral fashions. Cassarà's work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in museums and public institutions, including the "Icastica" exhibition at the Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna in Bologna in 1994, "Collectionism in Turin" at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Castello di Rivoli in 1996, and "Sui Generis" at the PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea in Milan in 2000. In the following years he participated in other important exhibitions such as "Italian Factory - La Nuova Scena Artistica Italiana" at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, " Street Art, Sweet Art" at the PAC in Milan in 2007 and "La Nuova Figurazione italiana. - To be continued..." at the Fabbrica Borroni in Bollate (MI) also in 2007.
Throughout his career, Cassarà has been invited to numerous international exhibitions, including "Rumors" at the Ex Arsenale Borgo Dora in Turin in 2008 and the exhibition dedicated to Guido Crepax at Palazzo Reale in Milan in 2013. In 2017, the The artist was invited to the Triennial Exhibition of Visual Arts in Rome at Palazzo Velli.
