Adult filmmaker John Christopher, born Christopher Covino in September 1953, grew up as the eldest of three brothers in a traditional New Jersey family. After graduating from high school, he attended Montclair State University, where he participated in both the drama group and photography clubs. Furthermore, he also became interested in cinema, and after graduating from college, he moved to Manhattan to pursue a film career.
He began as an apprentice editor for commercials, documentaries and industrial films, while simultaneously continuing to write his own screenplays. In 1972 he met director Chuck Vincent, with whom he collaborated in a variety of roles, including screenwriter, assistant editor, script supervisor, assistant director and production manager. In 1973, he wrote and directed his first adult film, Burning Desires.
He went on to make over twenty hardcore films, including Centurians of Rome (1981), which was considered his single most impressive and ambitious adult film.
