Francesco Cozza, born in Stilo (Calabria) in 1605 and died in Rome on 13 January 1682, was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. As a young man, he moved to Rome where he was apprenticed to Domenichino, with whom he went to Naples in 1634. He is mainly known for the large panegyric ceiling fresco, "Apotheosis of Casa Pamphilj" in the library of Palazzo Pamphilj in Piazza Navona in Rome. Between 1658 and 1659, he worked in the Fire Room in Palazzo Pamphilj in Valmontone, alongside Pier Francesco Mola, Gaspar Dughet, Mattia Preti, Giovanni Battista Tassi (the Cortonese) and Guglielmo Cortese. In 1650, he was welcomed into the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. Cozza was also an engraver in the style of Pietro del Po, creating a "Saint Peter" in 1630 and a "Christ sleeping and adored by angels".
Francesco Cozza died in Rome on 13 January 1682.
