Nicola De Corsi Biography
Nicola De Corsi (Odessa 1882 - Torre del Greco 1955) After a difficult childhood and youth, he decides to run away with some gypsies and with the singer, magician of the caravan, to whom he is linked by a strong friendship, he begins to go around the Spain. Here, to support himself, he always creates portraits set in dream castles, majestic cathedrals and breathtaking sunsets. The police find him in Toledo, he is accompanied to Milan by his mother, with whom he begins a new journey in Italy in search of his father's legacy: Genoa, Milan, Florence, Rome, Venice, more or less long stays, then the arrival in the south. He resides for a while in Rome where he meets and becomes friends with Carlo Siviero, he is lucky enough to meet Antonio Mancini, and this is enough to fill his cultural gaps, and to understand the foundations of true pictorial art and sincerity of expression, without losing the spontaneity of the self-taught. Naples is the revelation for De Corsi, he puts the figure aside, his painting fills everywhere of the "sea", of the nature that surrounds it, of those houses so unique and particular that smell of "sea" and of the glittering night parties full of a thousand colors that explode, come out of the canvas, to invite us to party but with the "sea " on background.
