Giovanni della Robbia (Florence, 19 May 1469 – 1529/1530) was an Italian sculptor and ceramist, who was active in Tuscany between the 15th and 16th centuries. Coming from the della Robbia family - son of Andrea della Robbia and great-grandson of Luca della Robbia - he follows in the artistic footsteps of his predecessors, successfully specializing in the polychrome ceramic technique.
Compared to his father and Luca della Robbia, he emphasizes the polychrome character of his works, adding new colors to the traditional two-tone scheme, which usually uses blue/white.
Like his father, he has a rich production of works throughout Tuscany, creating roundels, lunettes, tabernacles, panels, etc.
However, his works have less expressive power and perspective ability than his predecessors, even though they maintain a very high technical knowledge.
