Raffaello Di Vecchio Biography
Raffaello Di Vecchio is an artist born in Lucca in 1942 where he still lives and works. After graduating from his city's Art Institute, he became known for his narrative painting, later called "Lucchese painting". He has participated in numerous national competitions where he obtained significant recognition and first prizes. Over the years he has organized personal exhibitions in various cities including Lucca, Florence, Oristano, Prato, Vigevano, Montecatini Terme, Lecce, Empoli, Lerici, Massa, Munich, Montevarchi, Bangkok and Milan. He taught at the Art Institute of Lucca and held painting courses for over twenty years at the Art School of his city.
Di Vecchio's painting is a fun game that represents the widespread attitude in Lucca to tell stories with the flavor and liveliness of fairy tales. His works are characterized by a fabulous direction that creates a wonderful vision between the sky and the sea and he loves to use bright and different colors which are the real protagonists of the game. In doing so, the artist manages to grasp the aspects that can suggest the downplaying of the world around him, interpreting it in a modest and poetic way.
Di Vecchio is a fabulous narrator of images who transforms his tables into real works of art, giving life to fantastic worlds and conventional characters of the story. The artist knows how to construct wonderful horizons, boundless areas of golden beach and sweeping views of volcanoes and temples. His painting is capable of animating and building an aesthetic mechanism that has its roots in the great desires of man since the beginning of time: that of interpreting the world in which he lives through his artistic creativity, giving voice to his imagination as a poet .
