Mario Ferrante Biography

Mario Ferrante is an artist born in Rome in 1957. Having moved to Brazil as a child with his family, he began to dedicate himself to drawing and painting by frequenting an artist's studio in Sao Paulo. In 1970 he returned to Italy and settled in Benevento, a city where he attended the local artistic high school and then the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
Despite his return to Italy, Ferrante maintained a strong connection with Brazil and returned there often to visit his family. His early artistic training also focused on the creation of works of a sacred nature, and many of these can still be admired today in the Benevento area.
Starting from the mid-1980s, Ferrante began to exhibit regularly in national and international exhibitions, collaborating with important art galleries and seeing his works included in many public and private collections. He also created commemorative works in bronze, such as the sculpture dedicated to the Lombard Prince Arechi II in Benevento and the monumental group dedicated to the Pontelandolfo massacre, also in his country of origin.
Among the most important exhibitions of his career are his first solo exhibition in Rome in 1977, the exhibition at the Museo del Sannio in Benevento in 1990, his participation in the Alitalia per l'Arte project with exhibitions in the airports of New York, Milan and Rome , and the exhibition at the National Art Club in New York in 1999. He has also exhibited in other important spaces such as the Maschio Angioino in Naples, Palazzo Venezia in Rome and the Embassy of Brazil in Germany.
His works have also been exhibited abroad, such as at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague in 2016. Ferrante's art is distinguished by a great expressive capacity and his ability to expertly mix elements of Italian and Brazilian culture .
