Piero Focardi Biography
Born in Settignano on 21 May 1889. He was initiated into art by his father Ruggero Focardi. At the age of thirteen he successfully exhibited at the Belle Arti in Florence. All his numerous paintings were inspired by life, customs and the enchanting landscape of Lake Garda. He has a pointillist technique, a broad and spontaneous manner, strictly realistic, representative and personal. He has participated in exhibitions held in Florence, Rome, Milan, Brescia, Paris, London, New York, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Vienna, and almost always with the Italian Divisionists Group. His main works: "The battle of Adua" and "The Calabro Siculo disaster", preserved in the Divisional Military Museum of Florence; "Piante sul Garda", in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome; "Autumn afternoon in Alta Valtenesi", in the National Gallery of Italian Art in Lima, Peru; "La Valtenesi"; "Pasture on Garda"; "A window on Garda"; "The Garda of Monte Pizzoccolo"; "Reflections and Reflections"; "At the airfield", awarded in Florence and purchased by the King; portraits of "Mrs. Mary Carboni" and "Mirella Bolognesi"; "Home Life"; "In the country side"; "Breakfast Time"; "The children of Doctor Carloni", "Joyful solemnity in the family"; "A chat close to home"; "The walkers study."
