Domenico (memo) Fornasari Biography
Domenico Fornasari was born in Mantua in 1910. Already as a young man he demonstrated a great passion for the figurative arts, which he then continued to cultivate by studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. His interest also extended to other forms of art, such as architecture, theatre, cinema and furniture, which contributed to the formation of his sophisticated aesthetic taste.
Fornasari joined the Futurist movement from a very young age, exhibiting his works at the 1932 Futurist International in Rome together with other great names such as Balla, Sironi, Prampolini and Depero. This was just the beginning of a long successful career in the world of Italian and international contemporary art.
Between 1940 and 1952 Fornasari dedicated himself to the creation of cinematographic documentaries in Rome, creating around twenty works. But furniture was another avenue of success for the artist, his innovative ideas allowed him to receive numerous furnishing commissions for apartments, shops and bars.
Fornasari then returned to painting in 1961, exhibiting at the San Luca gallery in Verona and in Paris in the same year. He has been the protagonist of numerous personal and collective exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad, also participating in various prizes.
In 1978 he received the International Oscar in Milan and in the Community of European Artists group he was included together with other great Italian artists such as Bay, Burri, Brindisi, Campigli, Fontana, Fiume, Fantuzzi, Guidi and Morlotti.
Domenico Fornasari died in 1982 in Verona, leaving a great artistic legacy.
