Innocenzo Fraccaroli was born on December 28, 1805 in Castelrotto di Valpolicella. Son of Andrea, a modest landowner, and Aquilina Fagiuoli, he moved with his family to Parona all'Adige around 1818. He began working as a carver in Verona and later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he won the grand prize for sculpture in 1829.
