Genny Biography

Genny is an Italian ready-to-wear clothing brand, introduced on the market in 1962. Initially specialized in skirts and blouses, essential elements of the women's wardrobe, the brand was used by Arnaldo Girombelli for the complementary collections of his boutique in Ancona. The company adopted an artisanal production that quickly conquered the preferences of customers, so much so that the entrepreneur from the Marche region appointed Donatella Ronchi as style coordinator in 1976. The latter, who would later become Girombelli's wife and take over the leading the company after her husband's death in 1980, she was a forerunner of Made in Italy and its formidable commercial formula, which was able to combine fashion, industry and attention to public trends. In 2001, the brand attracted the interest of Prada, which entered into a preliminary agreement to acquire the brand. In 2011, Verona-based Swinger International took control of the brand and appointed Gabriele Colangelo as creative director. In 2013, Genny was relaunched under the creative leadership of Sara Cavazza Facchini, who presented her first collection in September of the same year.
