Luigi Ghelfi Biography
GHELFI LUIGI. Pontremoli, 8 April 1917. Brother of Augusto and Gianni, teacher of Literature and self-taught painter. Arriving a little later than his brothers at the forefront of exhibitions, Luigi Ghelfi nevertheless intimately matured the ferment that came from beyond the Alps at the end of the Second World War. Those ferments "of humanistic civilization finally free to run around Europe after fascist obscurantism". Luigi Ghelfi, a reserved, almost shy man, presented himself for the second time in a personal exhibition. And it came ten years after the first, ordered, again by the Brescian Artists Association in 1961. The presences in group exhibitions were already significant, among which we recall the «Premi Brescia» of 1952 and 1953, the Premio Gavardo (1953), those in Orzinuovi (1955), Gargnano, Parma (1957), Milan (Galleria Pater, 1958), the collective Bresciana da Alberll' (1958). Finally, he returns to his native Pontremoli (1957 and 1960). It is also worth mentioning the successes achieved in 1957 on the occasion of the "National Advertising Billboard Exhibition" organized by the Val di Magra Cultural Association and the Brescia Chamber of Commerce Award.
