Giorgio Giacoboni Biography
Giorgio Giacoboni (1716 - 1777) was an Italian painter and engraver, active in the 18th century. Born in Piacenza, he received his first artistic training in the workshop of his older brother Carlo.
In 1752 he moved to Rome, where he worked for important clients, such as the Rospigliosi princes and Cardinal Silvio Valenti Gonzaga, before finally settling in Venice, where he was enrolled in the Academy of Painting and Sculpture starting in 1759.
Giacoboni's works have been the subject of study over the years, however, very few paintings by the artist are known. Among these, only one is of certain location: "a Brawl at the tavern", preserved in the Pallavicini Gallery in Rome, coming from the Rospigliosi collection.
In addition to this Roman canvas, there are other works present in private collections, with settings such as stable interiors or in places typical of "bambocciate", characterized by a fine and subtle pictorial taste, with an exquisite rendering of animals and lively figurines.
