Alessandro Gianvenuti Biography
Alessandro Gianvenuti was born on October 31, 1974 in Rome, Italy. In 1996, he created his first paintings. The central theme of his artwork is the body, which he reinvents through scanners and computers. His first solo exhibition was held in 1997 at the Galleria Mascherino in Rome. Gianvenuti has participated in numerous national and international collective exhibitions, including Multimedia Events at the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, Art and Electronics at Palazzo Diamanti in Ferrara, Q Anteprima at the Palazzo Reale in Naples, Melting Pop in Siena and Varese, Young Italian Genoma at the Buia Gallery in New York and Romaduemilatre at the Pack Gallery in Milan.
Gianvenuti dissects, enlarges and reworks various parts of his body using digital technology. The resulting surfaces are then printed on industrial PVC plotters. He works on enlargement and sequence, with an almost cinematic narrative vein, and uses strong, bright colours. The central element of Gianvenuti's work is man, his body, hands, face and feet. His language is fast, contemporary, and the "painting" is a flow of the artwork through a technological medium with a lateral perspective. The prints, made on PVC, PVC silver or canvas, are mounted on a frame and are produced in a single copy.
Gianvenuti's artistic experimentation with photography, video, cinema and painting, all metabolised by computer technology, has made him one of the most contemptuous, rhythmic, active and competitive talents of the contemporary Italian art scene.
