Gaspare Gisone Biography
Gaspare Gisone was born in June 1975 in Castelvetrano (TP). He currently lives and works in Milan. Gaspare Gisone works on spatiality, interpreted as material concreteness on which to act with desperate force of expression, almost to force its intimate consistency, to bring it to take on the features of a crossing language which irreversibly modifies its original condition, bringing from a virginity to a stain, with an opening imprint that leaves deep traces, lacerations of the tissue, as an effect of trauma. The references to Fontana and Burri, masters in fornication with nothingness and the degradation of matter, mix with those of Castellano and Colombo, masters in the treatment of the traverses of light and are configured as true historical sources of machinations towards smooth surfaces , which are treated with the vigorous action of the sculptor, of the modifier of plastic effects. Gisone thus obtains effects of sensual multiplication of the image, going beyond the limits of beauty, as a concrete affirmation of the here and now, to transit into the effect of the sublime as an abstract kinetic position. The compositions are celibate singularities that cannot add position to position, but stand as inaccessible icons and lend themselves only to a suspension of aesthetic judgment, which is however called into question by the smoothing effects that the images project, as if they were mirrors that they can now become quiet assertors of the image, now burning moments of a belligerence between absence and presence. The cycle of references is always the same, but always evolving in the dialectic of work and spectator.
