Domenico Giustacchini Biography
Domenico Giustacchini (1924 - ) was a painter of Gavarde origins. He had a vocation for painting right from the start but initially had to succumb to the alienating factory work. His adventure in the world of form and color began in 1946. But only in 1968, after years of commitment and union battles, was it possible for him to gain economic independence by dedicating himself to art full time. He thus completed the maturation of signs and contents, through the appropriation of an extremely personal language, rich in meaning. In 1976 the first important exhibition in the city, at the Piccola Galleria Ucai, was highlighted by the most attentive critics. It was the start of an itinerary of significant presences, already anticipated in collective and some personal exhibitions in the province. The pinnacle, almost a synthesis of his long work, was the 1999 anthology. His was a painting of tonalism and expressionistic lyricism that refers to the important past artistic experiences acquired and assimilated. His figures, always faceless, became symbols of a metaphysical conception of everyday theatre. At the bottom of his canvases, we always perceive the emotional and spiritual tension; having the gift of interpreting human comedy with a feeling of pietas for man because he is enlightened by faith. In fact, Giustacchini's last destination was sacred art.
