Giorgio Gost Biography
Giorgio Gost was born on 6 April 1962 in Salsomaggiore. During the 90s, over the age of thirty, he began to dedicate himself to metaphysical painting with a particular predilection for colour. Starting in 2000, he concentrated on geometric subjects and began numbering each work to keep track of the cycle, period and technique used. In 2008, the cycle that defines "Paths in search of color" begins. The following year, the "Paths in the Old Economy" cycle begins, which sees the application of original documents from 1982 and 1983 as part of the work, to celebrate real, hard manual work and honest entrepreneurial efforts.
In March 2011, Giorgio Gost and Alessandro Celli founded the "Art Economy Manifesto", based on the idea that an artist must create freely and without market constraints. The works must arise from what society, including economic society, offers: the colours, materials and techniques of our time and our history. In doing so, Gost's art becomes a means to communicate and spread concepts linked to the world of economics and the role it plays in the social and concrete life of humanity.
In 2011, after the terrible earthquake in Japan, Giorgio Gost began the "Stop the time" cycle. The artist applies everyday objects to the canvas in order to preserve them for future generations. Subsequently, the "Afters - objects and concepts that will be remembered in the year 6000 even if the originals no longer exist" are born.
