Hans Jordaens III (Antwerp, circa 1595 – Antwerp, 15 August 1643) was a Flemish painter and draftsman. Son of Hans Jordaens II, he was taught by him in the art of painting. On 26 November 1617, he married Maria van Dijck, with whom he had five children. In the same year he began his artistic career in Antwerp which continued until 1643. In 1620 he joined the Guild of Saint Luke in his hometown. He dedicated himself above all to the painting of historical subjects, interiors, animals and the depiction of art collections in the style of Frans Francken II. He also collaborated with Abraham Govaerts, inserting figures into his landscapes. There remain few paintings certainly attributed to Jordaens: only a few are in fact signed. Due to the artist's good standard of living, he lived in a large house despite the poverty of his family of origin, it is assumed that he achieved a certain success during his artistic career.
