Alessandro Kococinski Biography
Alessandro Kokocinski was born in Porto Recanati in 1948 to Russian and Polish parents, with a life immediately characterized by travel, his family being "countryless" emigrants. Having moved to Argentina in the hope of joining other compatriot communities, Kokocinski then moved to Chile and subsequently settled for a long time in Europe, where he lived in Rome for a long period. Here he came into contact with the poet Rafael Alberti and his artistic circle, where he began his artistic training.
The passion for the circus, which Kokocinski was entrusted to by his parents as a young man, soon merged with the practice of drawing and scenography, becoming a tool for denouncing forms of social and political oppression. His theatrical vocation then also expanded into sculpture, giving life to the famous "extroflexions".
Kokocinski began his artistic career as a self-taught person, followed by an apprenticeship with Carlo Quattrucci and Riccardo Tommasi Ferroni, artists who helped him develop actual painting techniques. From here he began an artistic career that led him to perform in numerous solo shows and exhibitions in the company of important artists of his time.
What is most striking about Kokocinski's artistic production is his vision and creative freedom, which led him to follow a radically different path compared to that of the American-style "system". He himself likes to define himself as a "cultured craftsman", thus affirming his connection with the world of craftsmanship and applied arts.
