Gianni Longinotti Biography
Gianni Longinotti was born in Padua in 1927 – died in 2007. He participated in national and international exhibitions with solo exhibitions in many Italian cities. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He emerged since the 1950s within the Paduan art scene, initially adhering to the neorealist current widespread in post-war Italy. The themes of social and political denunciation were later followed by motifs linked to the artist's personal story: the poetics of memory, of a contemplation of the past which from that moment on would characterize Longinotti's entire pictorial parable, was consolidated. Towards the end of the 1960s the first national recognitions and important collaborations with prestigious art galleries such as the Galleria Levi in Milan, the Arcobaleno and La Barcaccia in Rome began, with participation in the Quadrennial and Triennial exhibitions in Rome, Milan, Turin. Some of the most important critical figures on the national artistic scene have written about Longinotti, during his long pictorial career, including Enrico Crispolti, Mario De Micheli, Carlo Munari, Paolo Rizzi, Camillo Semenzato, Franco Solmi.
