Garry Marshall Biography
Garry Marshall was born in New York in 1934, and was a successful director, producer and screenwriter. After completing his studies in journalism, he began his career as a television screenwriter and producer in the 1970s, developing cult television series such as Happy Days (1974), Laverne & Shirley (1976) and Mork & Mindy (1978).
In 1982, he made his film directorial debut with The Craziest Hospital in the World, followed by Flamingo Kid (1984) with Matt Dillon. In 1987 he directed A Couple Adrift, with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, while in 1988 he made the film Spiagge.
But the film that made Garry Marshall famous is undoubtedly Pretty Woman, a 1990 romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, which has become an iconic work of American cinema.
Over the next few years, Garry Marshall went on to direct numerous successful films such as Sweetheart (2010), New Year's Eve (2011), and Mother's Day (2016), which was released a few months before his death .
Sadly, Garry Marshall passed away in 2016 due to complications from pneumonia, but his creative and innovative work will forever remain an inspiration to generations of producers, directors and screenwriters.
