Guido Meineri Biography
Guido Meineri was a well-known Italian painter of the divisionist movement, born in Cuneo on 27 May 1869. Meineri enrolled at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin from a young age, where he had two famous people of the time as teachers: Andrea Gastaldi and Pier Celestino Gilardi.
In 1887, Guido made his debut at the Promotrice of Turin, while ten years later he participated in the National Exhibition of Turin. He also participated in national exhibitions in other Italian cities such as Genoa, Rome, Naples, Florence, Milan, Turin, Bologna and also abroad, in Buenos Aires and at the Salon d'Automne in Paris.
Meineri had friendly relationships with several artists including Cesare Viazzi, Giuseppe Pennasilico, Angelo Costa, Andrea Figari, Vittorio Lavezzari and Lorenzo Orengo. They met regularly at the café of the Teatro Carlo Felice, in the Galleria Mazzini.
He died in Montese, Modena, on 24 December 1944. His works are present in numerous art galleries, including the Gallery of Modern Art in Genoa, the Pinacoteca di Palazzo Rosso, the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan and the civic galleries of Naples.
