Irma Morassi Biography
Irma Morassi was born in Alassio, in the province of Savona, in 1953. From a young age she had a strong passion for art, encouraged and stimulated by her mother, who had in turn desired a more creative life for herself. During the years of 1968, first as a commuter and later sharing a house with other students, she experienced exciting and fun moments, even if she admitted that most of her time was spent protesting rather than studying.
In 1972, the year he received his high school diploma, his father died suddenly, followed by the failure of his mother's business. Following this, the family moved to Zurich, where the artist spent happy moments as a child.
Irma decided to move to Milan to enroll at the Brera Academy, but due to the family's financial difficulties, she had to put aside her dream of becoming a sculptor. Later, she became assistant and studio assistant to the Venetian artist Libero Vitali, from whom she learned the use of seemingly unlikely color combinations.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Irma's painting gradually evolved, focusing on the observation of everyday elements. He traveled to Spain, creating works for the collectors Carmen and Jordi Comas, owners of the Hotel Aromar in Platja d'Aro.
Starting from the 1990s, he began to dedicate himself more and more to sculpture, enrolling at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts during the course of the sculptor teacher Filippo Scimeca. He received his diploma in 2005 and continued to work as a tutor on the course for a further two years.
Since 2013, Irma Morassi has resided in the countryside of Castel San Giovanni, where she continues to work. His painting is often defined as Central European, with roots in northern Europe, but with Mediterranean influences, and focuses on trees and nature.
